SUMMER 2017 ONLINE COMPETITION & TALENT SEARCH KENYA CLARK | CHILD CATEGORY (UP TO AGE 12) 12-year-old Kenya Clark was born a singer and performer. Her parents knew Kenya would grow up to become a singer because there wasn't a day that she wouldn't sing Disney songs at the top of her lungs. Kenya joined the American Heritage School Youth Chorus when she was 8 years old, and two years later joined the One Voice Children’s Choir (OVCC). Kenya has a very unique, powerful voice and passion for singing. Her love for music and the gift of her voice have already opened many opportunities for her at her young age. Kenya's membership in this choir has been a wonderful platform. She has become more experienced and confident after performing at dozens of stages and venues locally and internationally. She loves the friendships she has made within the choir and the direction of Masa Fukuda who is a great musician, friend, and mentor to Kenya. She is scheduled to tour Japan with Masa Fukuda and a small group of choir children performing as a choir member and soloist this fall. Kenya has been featured in many choir music videos and her voice has been recorded for many other musical projects for the choir and other local artists. Kenya had the opportunity to perform with the One Voice Children's Choir as they toured Normandy and France this past summer. Kenya loved the opportunity to perform solos and sing in French. Kenya loves to play the piano and is enjoying learning acoustic guitar. She also loves to write stories and draw animated characters. She enjoys having family time and hanging out with friends. Kenya launched her YouTube channel in 2016 with the purpose of uplifting, inspiring, and entertaining those who follow her. She has reached 11,000 subscribers in only 8 months. Those who follow her have enjoyed watching choir performances, homemade and professional made music videos covers. Among the most popular ones are: "Gethsemane" written by Melanie Hoffman Moana's cover of "How Far I'll go & I am Moana" medley, Beauty and the Beast's cover of "Tale as Old as Time" duet with Matthew Cadwell. "The Prayer," a prayer for Latin America, an English-Spanish cover duet with Alex Melecio. Kenya has performed on multiple occasions at family and church performances, school talent shows, and music recitals, but more professionally, she has performed the National Anthem at such venues in Salt Lake City, Utah, as the 2014 Miss Utah Pageant at the Capitol Theater, the 10 December 2016 Utah Jazz game at the Vivint Smart Home Arena, and the University of Utah men's and women’s basketball games at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Kenya Clark is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Besides being musically talented, Kenya is determined and a hard worker. She has paid for all her music videos by doing babysitting jobs and by selling pizza fundraising cards on the weekends. She is a great entrepreneur funding her own music projects. Kenya gives thanks to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ for the gift of her voice. She is committed to raising her voice to honor and preach beautiful truths and praise the beauty of our world and humanity.
